WHO WE ARE

A US tax practice built for clients living and working across Asia

American Pacific Tax is a US federal & state tax practice based in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. We work exclusively with people and businesses who carry a US tax obligation while living, working, or investing outside the United States, and we have done so since 2012.

Take the stress out of U.S. taxes with a team that turns complex rules into clear, simple English you can actually understand. Serving clients across the Asia-Pacific region and specialising in cross-border individuals, we make your U.S. tax filing effortless—saving you time, reducing errors, and keeping you fully compliant. Operating on Asia time, we eliminate the usual U.S.–Asia gap and proactively manage everything to deliver a smooth, responsive, and worry-free experience.

Key tax dates

Important dates & deadlines

For US citizens and green card holders living in Hong Kong, China, and Macau, here are the dates that matter most each year.

Apr15

Tax payment due

Any US tax you owe must be paid by April 15 to avoid interest, even if you file your return later. If the 15th lands on a weekend or holiday, the due date moves to the next business day.

Apr15

FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) due

Required if your foreign financial accounts total over US$10,000 at any point in the year. It's filed with the US Treasury, not the IRS, and carries an automatic extension to October 15 with no request needed.

Jun15

Filing deadline for Americans abroad

Living outside the US earns you an automatic two-month extension to file, moving your return deadline to June 15. This extends your filing date, not your payment date.

Oct15

Final extended deadline

If you've filed Form 4868 for an extension, October 15 is the absolute last date to file your return, useful when documents take time to gather from overseas.

Filing isn't the same as paying. An extension buys you more time to file your return, not more time to pay. Interest starts accruing on any unpaid tax after April 15.
